1. Bloating:

A lot of people have complained about bloating when they take omeprazole. Abdominal boating usually occurs when the gastrointestinal tract is filled with gas. This might be due to the fact that changes in the gastrointestinal tract can occur when omeprazole is taken, leading to water retention, gas production, constipation, and dyspepsia.

2. Vomitting:

Another common side effect of omeprazole is a vomiting.  An analysis conducted suggests that approximately 3% of omeprazole users will experience vomiting as a side effect.

3. Nausea:

It was suggested that diarrhea as a side effect of omeprazole is due to a decrease in acid content of the GIT. This reduction in acid causes less water to be soaked from digested food materials.

Therefore, the peripheral nervous system interacts with the CNS, the omeprazole-mediated peripheral changes would then change the neurochemistry of the patient to feel an uncontrollable emotion or excitement.

6. Weight Loss
As mentioned above, majority of omeprazole users are known to experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea etc. These might lead to weight loss because a lot of calories are lost. But, it normally occurs at the early state of treatment..

7. Allergic reaction:
An allergic reaction occurs when the immune system overreacts to a harmless substance. This side effect of omeprazole is experienced by only a few patients. Common sysmptoms of sdverse reaction to omeprazole include watery eyes; respiratory problem; skin rash; itchiness; mental confusion; swollen face, tongue, throat  lightheadedness; and behavioral changes.  This condition needs an emergency attention and medication should be stopped immediately.

8. Dry mouth:
This is one of the side effects that is less likely to occur, nevertheless, it can happen. Dryness of the mouth is possibly due to omeprazole sterilazation activivity of the secretory glands, thereby decreasing secretion. 

9. Back pain:
In clinical trials of omeprazole, about 1.1% of users reported back pain as a side effect. Even though its pathophysiology is unclear, however, nutrients deficiency, bone loss, and muscle loss can the main reason. If the pain becomes intense, it is better to talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

10. Fever:
Feverishness can occur as a side effect of using omeprazole. Research has shown that fever as a side effect of omeprazole is likely to occur in children compared to adults. Notwithstanding, if the fever doesn’t subside, it is better to talk to your doctor or pharmacist because it might be a sign of infection.
