First Ever Seen PSN Presidential Debate 2018


A presidential debate organized by PharmaNews in collaboration with PSN held on Friday, 12th October 2018. This kind of event is the first ever seen in the history of PSN election. 

The forthcoming election is scheduled to take place in Oyo state during the society’s 91st annual conference. The debate took place at the conference hall of PSN secretariat, Lagos state.

The Presidential debate was watched live on PharmaNews website, PSN Oluyole 2018 facebook page and other social media.
All four candidates were present at the event and have reeled out their manifestoes. 
The four PSN presidential aspirants at the debate.

The candidates are: 
Pharm. (Dr) Otakho Daniel Orumwense
Pharm. (Dr) Lolu Ojo
Pharm. (Mazi) Sam Ohuabunwa
Pharm. Anthony Bola Oyawole

The debate was moderated by Pharm. Shina Opanubi who asked the aspirants questions relating to how Nigeria is Over-dependent on medicine importation, National drug distribution guidelines (NDDG), in sufficient internship placement, fight against counterfeit medicines, Pharmacy education and interpersonal collaboration in the health care sector among others.

Dr. Lolu Ojo delivered his opening statement emphasizing on why he is contesting for the office of PSN president. He was the former chairman of National Association of Industrial Pharmacists (NAIP). As he mentioned, his first and foremost aim is to move Pharmacy profession to a better level it should be. Addition to his agenda is focusing on bridging the gap between practice and training.

Dr. Daniel Orumwense while speaking said among his plans is to consolidate the gains of the past PSN leaders. He talked about rebranding, repositioning and re-engineering of the Pharmacy profession. He is currently a member of the outgoing leaders of the society.

Pharm. Anthony Bola Oyawole also delivered his manifesto. He was the former chairman Lagos state PSN also a member of PSN and ACPN board of trustees. He talked on revolutionizing pharmacy profession with new ideas and repositioning it for effective control and managemet.

On his own part, Pharm. (Mazi) Sam Ohuabunwa said part of his aim is to use his connections and tremendous goodwill to take pharmacy profeesion to a greater height. He also added that pharmacy profession needs to be reclaimed and rebuild.
